This is a close up photo i took, of a rusted object. The actual object its self is not important necessarily to me. Its more the hidden colours and textures that are aesthetically captivating, and better captured close up . I look for texture in my composition, because it can add depth and detail to the image. This was taken in high exposure to emphasize the colours. I feel it is important to  move in close and exclude everything that doesn't enhance the tactile qualities of your image. Unless the texture is part of a broader scene, or dramatizing texture by comparing different surfaces.

project

On receiving the urban environment project. I set about going around Limerick city, taking pictures of things that interested  me. I found that i was drawn towards gates, grids and railings. primarily i was looking at the actually shape and structure. Manily because i felt it reflected my own style in drawing, such as defined lines, dark shading and harsh lines.
However on further investigation my focus was then directed towards the colour and texture personally an area i have not exploerd before. I continued to photograph objects up close to capture colour and texture. From these photos i started to experiment with paint on different mediums. Such as glass, tinfoil, kitchen paper and rusted metal.
